Mini Sites and Affiliate Marketing.

I can thank Phil Wiley, who has written quite a few articles posted herein, for my renewed interest in mini sites.

However, my first use of mini sites was in 1998 and was before I became a member of Phil's Mini Site Profits site. I must confess that I didn't actually develop mini sites as an effective Internet marketing tool as Phil did. I just sort of muddled my way into using them.

In 1998 I was just getting started with my own Internet mania. I had a lot of energy and determination and almost no computer or technical skills. So after joining a computer marketing MLM I started building very simple web sites one after the other to promote the program. I didn't have the skill level to build complicated sites.-)

They were mini sites for sure. There was only about 400 to 500 words of text and one image of, what else, a computer. I did take the time to write a good short title about computers, a short description about computers, a very short key word list, yeah only computer words, and the text was all about computers.

I also put my toll free phone number on the site. In about three days my phone begin to ring off the hook. Night and day. Day and late into the night. In those days a few search engines indexed and listed sites quickly and, man. the search engines loved those little mini sites.

I made a lot of sales with those one hour to build web sites. Well, I was slow at buildimg a site in those days. But I did build a lot of them, each one a bit different from the other. Unfortunately, the company that I was doing all the selling for was not very good at delivering the product.

But that's another story for another time. For now let's just say that mini sites do work. It's not as easy to get the high search engine listings as it used to be but with the right product in the right nitche mini sites can give a great ROI for the time, expense (small) , and time invested.

Just ask Phil Wiley.

P.S. The key to my early mini site success is still THE key issue in building successful mini sites.

The site has to be totally focused on whatever it is that you are marketing and ask for a very specific action on the part of the visitor. My computer mini site was only about the computer deal and TOLD the visitor to call me. That's why all those folks called me already pre sold. Most only wanted
a question or two answered. The question most asked was "how do I to get in on the computer deal?"

You have to love those mini sites.
